Donaldson Mabutho (32) was not asked to plead to the charge of assaulting Judith Dube.

Prosecutor Raymond Makaza told the court that on January 24, Dube went to Njube Hall where Tsvangirai was addressing a campaign rally, but sat outside as the venue was full.

This, however, angered Mabutho and his alleged five accomplices, still at large, who ordered her to leave, but she refused.

It is the State case that one of the youths slapped her on the cheek before Mabutho allegedly dragged her with the collar of her blouse demanding that she leaves the place.

Dube later reported the matter at Njube Police Station, leading Mabutho’s arrest.

In her statement to the police, Dube claimed that she decided to sit outside the hall because the venue was filled to capacity.

Bulawayo magistrate remanded Mabutho to today.
