SIGNIFICANT delays to the commencement of a trial involving popular cleric Tapiwa Freddy and property developer Kudakwashe Taruberekera are raising eyebrows after the man of God was in no show for the umpteenth time at the Kadoma magistrates court yesterday.
Freddy dragged Taruberekera to court after he revoked the donation of a piece of land.
Yesterday Freddy and witnesses in the case were conspicuous by their absence at the trial before Kadoma magistrate Yeukai Dzuda. Dzuda moved the case to June 17.
The matter was initially heard at the Chinhoyi Magistrates Court on February 7 following Taruberekera's arrest by Zacc in a case of fraud that was later altered to theft.
The case was postponed to February 20 before it was moved to March 6 where it was transferred to Kadoma.
At the Kadoma Magistrates Court, the case was heard on March 20, April 4, 23 and 30 and May 19 as well as yesterday.
In most instances, Freddy was in no show, however, his lawyer Jivas Mudimu of Mudimu Law Chambers at some point said the State would summon witnesses to testify on the trial date.
Taruberekera is the founder and CEO of Craft Properties, the company that donated a residential stand to Freddy in 2016 and revoked the gift in 2021 due to unfulfilled conditions.
