Ndiraya relishes Musona's arrival

Knowledge Musona

SCOTTLAND FC coach Tonderai Ndiraya is brimming with excitement following the unveiling of national team legend Knowledge Musona, as the 'Smiling Assassin' makes his highly-anticipated return to the Zimbabwean top flight.

Musona's signing marks a key moment for local football, and Ndiraya believes the former Warriors captain will be a game-changer as Scottland FC prepares for a crucial title clash against four-time champions FC Platinum in Zvishavane.

The 35-year-old  was introduced to a thunderous reception on Monday during Scottland FC's 1-0 victory over Yadah FC.

His arrival further underscores Scottland FC's significant financial power and their audacious bid for the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League title in their debut season.

“I think in terms of handling, we have done very well, if you ask me,” Ndiraya said.

“Of course, when you have all the stars in the team, they all want to play. But I think it's just a matter of man management that has taken us thus far. And I am sure Knowledge is bringing some leadership to the team.

“Not just some leadership, I think the whole nation must be excited to watch Knowledge in our Premier League. I think when he started, he went straight to South Africa from our first division. I don't know how many years now he's been playing outside the country. The fact that he decided to come back and play in our league is a huge plus for our league,” Ndiraya added.

The Scottland’s coach sees Musona as more than just a player, but an invaluable mentor for the team's younger talents.

“Probably one of the most decorated players for the Warriors, for our national team. So we are so excited as a team. I am very excited as a coach. Because in terms of leadership, you know that you don't have much work. Knowledge will be there to guide all the youngsters with all the experience that he has.”

Musona, whose contract with Saudi Pro League side Al-Okhdood expired last month, is arguably the biggest signing in Zimbabwean football history.

Having plied his trade in highly competitive leagues in South Africa, Belgium, Germany and Saudi Arabia, his decision to conclude his illustrious career in his homeland speaks volumes about Scottland FC's ambition.

His return will see him link up with his younger brother, Walter Musona, who currently captains Scottland FC — a prospect that has fans buzzing with anticipation as the siblings will play together in the same league for the first time.

Musona's acquisition comes hot on the heels of another significant coup for Scottland FC — convincing Terrence Dzvukamanja to return home from South Africa.

This aggressive buying spree is a continuation of their pre-season strategy, where they secured six of the 11 players on the prestigious Soccer Stars list, including Soccer Star of the Year Walter Musona, first runner-up Khama Billiat, and second runner-up Lynoth Chikuhwa.

The squad was further bolstered with established talents like Godknows Murwira, Tymon Machope, Kingsley Mureremba, Mthokozisi Msebe, Peter Muduwa and Nelson Chadya.
